*This is not a weekly series, I will post random Japanese videos every once in a while.

Help 4 year old Charmaine in her fight against cancer.

Back in sunny Singapore, cute little 4 year old Charmaine, was diagnosed with 4th stage neuroblastoma on 13th Fubruary 2009. She has 10 to 20% chance of living if she seeks local treatment. However, if she seeks treatment in New York, she has a 40 to 50% chance of living, which is significantly higher.

As of 5th July, the Ourfeistyprincess team (representing Charmaine) has managed to raise S$500,000 and are preparing to send Charmaine to New York for the treatment this Thursday. Due to the high cost of treatment and living expenses, the amount is not enough and more can be done.

Nuffnang is having a fundraising campaign for Charmaine from 23rd July to 24th September. Please visit http://www.nuffnang.com.sg/forcharmaine for more details on how you can help her fight against cancer.

Life is precious. I hope that Charmaine will be able to benefit from the treatment in New York and live through her childhood and beyond happily and carefree like these cute Japanese kids.

You can also check out the Children’s Cancer Foundation website to help other children with cancer and their families. My friends doing their part for the Children's Cancer Foundation.

Let’s do our part in providing Charmaine and the other kids with all the love and support they need. =)

G.I. JOE: Rise of the Cobra (Trailer, Quiz, Games and more!)

I’m excited ^^ … The Hollywood version of G.I. Joe is going to be released in cinemas worldwide very soon! If you are a guy, you have probably heard of G.I. Joe or maybe even own a G.I Joe figurine like I used to. To the girls reading this, think macho version of your Barbie dolls heh.

When I was a kid, I used to buy G.I Joe figurines and play them with my neighbours and cousins, sometimes together with my ninja turtle and transformer toys. Too bad my mum either threw or gave away all my old toys, or else I would be able to take pictures of some of these plastic heroes. If you are much younger than me and maybe play Ben Ten or Avatar toys instead let me show you a wonderful commercial in the 1990s of some of the G.I Joe toys.

I miss those days …

There was also the G.I Joe cartoon which I liked and watched every week. I think I bought the G.I Joe animate movie VHS tape (do you know what this is? lol) too! Though I have forgotten much of the plot now, there are 3 things I remember: Yo Joe! Cobra la la la la la and my favourite character Snake Eyes. That is why I put him in the post header pic heh.

Got to get though, Yo Joe!! I love most of the old cartoons and I’m glad they are making their way to the big screen.

So what’s this new G.I Joe movie about …
Synopsis: Paramount Pictures and Hasbro, whose previous collaboration was the worldwide blockbuster “TRANSFORMERS,” join forces with Spyglass Entertainment for another extraordinary action-adventure, “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.” From the Egyptian desert to deep below the polar ice caps, the elite G.I. JOE team uses the latest in next-generation spy and military equipment to fight the corrupt arms dealer Destro and the growing threat of the mysterious Cobra organization to prevent them from plunging the world into chaos. “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” is directed by Stephen Sommers (“The Mummy,” “The Mummy Returns”).
Who are in it?
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Christopher Eccleston, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Byung Hun Lee, Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Saïd Taghmaoui, Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans and Dennis Quaid
Awesome Trailer that got me all excited again like a kid in Toys “R” Us

Are you as excited as me?!?! Let’s all get through this torturous wait by exploring these interesting stuff provided by Paramount at the G.I Joe official website.

Let’s try these out ….

1. The G.I. Joe Quiz

Try it!

After doing the quiz over and over again, I finally got full marks!

Go try the quiz, there are many interesting info about the upcoming movie and real life facts. Okay, I know it sounds creepy, but I actually tried to get all combination of scores to see if I can get Snake Eyes. Unfortunately, he wasn’t one of the results lol.

2. The G.I Joe mini games

Link to training game

There is also an iPhone/iPod Touch version!

iTunes link

I have tried both set of mini games and honestly speaking, the one I played on my browser is better. If you are really free like me, maybe you can try out the iPhone version after you are done with the first one. Its foc anyway.

3. Fan Kit

All the stuff you need to show off your love for the show!

Link to Fan Kit

4. Wallpapers

Here are 4 wallpapers you can get from the fan kit.

I'm using the Snake Eyes wallpaper for my desktop now!!

Sorry for the messy desktop =P My monitor's resolution is 1920 x 1080 but the wallpaper still looks good in the middle =)

Visit the official website (Gijoemovie.com) now for more info on the show!

G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra will be out in Cinemas (Singapore) August 6!

I think I’m going to buy the Snake Eyes G.I Joe action figure after watching the movie. Yooooooooo Joe!!! Cobra la la la la la la la ……….

After an unlucky day ... I am rich!

Last Saturday, my ex group members had a group project meeting over at my house because my sis is in the group. It was fun watching them discussing while I had nothing to do. I played a little bit of Left for Dead in my room to distract them ha ha. I also joined in the discussion for a bit but didn’t provide much … I was just messing around lah heh. Sorry guys!

After discussion, I wanted to go watch Own Time Own Target, a play about NS life but nobody wanted to go. =( So the 3 guys (including me) went for dinner at Century Square instead and supposed to fish at Bedok Jetty after that. Too bad it rained after we ate and another plan of the day is ruined. We changed the fishing trip to a bowling one instead, and went all the way to Safra Mount Faber to bowl as Wayne’s gang of friends wanted to bowl there. There was a long queue there, and while waiting I wasted $10!

While waiting for our turn, Shawn and I went on a UFO catcher spree. We kept trying our luck on these money sucking machines and changed our notes to coins several times. I think the cashier must be laughing at us. Catching those cute little plushies are hard enough without any distractions but it got more difficult when 2 small kids stood beside us and repeatedly chanted the words “Na Bu Dao” – translation: You can’t get it. With this unwelcomed distraction, we ended up with nothing after spending around 10 bucks each! Usually I will get something but Saturday wasn’t a good day for me. I think the boys are hired by the management!

The bad luck continues in the bowling alley where I got the lowest score for both games and had to treat the guys supper lol. I suck at bowling but occasionally will get okay scores due to luck ... not on Saturday though heh. We ended our outing with supper at Macau Café paid by yours truly, the unlucky guy for the day. I also got sick that day … fever and flu but not H1N1 I think. Don't worry, you won't get infected after reading this if I have H1N1. (wah super lame .. sorry)

Luckily for me, the theory of good and bad luck has once again showed its magic and I had a pretty good week after that. I got richer!! =)
How my bad luck turned into some extra cash …

1) The next day (Sunday), I won 4D!!

I was reading Ms Chor Lor’s blog when I came across this post: OMY interviews Mcchorlor on the SgBlogAwards. In that post, she gave out 3 lucky 4d numbers for her readers to buy. I really went to buy all numbers forwards and backwards and one of the numbers won me $60!! The number 4060 came out as a consolation prize on Sunday and I bought $1 big. =) My father who bought the numbers for me, went to buy $3 big himself, and he won $180! Thank you Ms Chor Lor!! Huat Ah!

2) I received my first Nuffnang cheque

The cheque is not for the ads, but for a contest I won recently. The contest is about taking photos of interesting locations in Singapore and explaining why you want an internet connection there. This is my blog entry for the contest – Interesting Places in Singapore I wish had Internet Connection. I won one of the consolation prizes, which is $50. Although I didn’t get the top 3 prizes which are really good, the top prize being a macbook and some cash, at least I won something heh. "No fish, prawn also okay" =P

To check out all the fabulous winning entries, go here. Some of the entries have videos! I didn’t know we could use that, but even if I knew I don’t think I would be able to make a better video then them heh ... Before this contest, I also won the Nike Mini contest. To see what I won click here. =) It has been around 6 months since I joined Nuffnang and I’m a happy Nuffnanger heh. So many intereting contests to join! For bloggers out there who are not under Nuffnang, you can join them at Nuffnang.com! Thank you Nuffnang, Alvin, Shawn and Wayne for this win.

3) I emptied my Golden Pillow and got quite a lot of money =)

Not to be confused with a certain channel 8 hit drama of the same name, the Golden Pillow I have is a “gold” piggy bank or should I say bun-ny bank which I got as a free gift when I ordered food delivery from Golden Pillow 933. This Golden Pillow which I have is actually made after one of the dishes they have. I have been inserting $1 coins into this pillow for around 4 months and decided that it was time to take out the rubber protection below and let it all out. This has been my routine for the past 2 years and the satisfaction of counting my golden coins is priceless. =)

The routine also includes adding additional gold coins from my father pot of gold he he. I will dig out every $1 coin from the “coin pot” in his room. He doesn’t know about this and I don’t think he cares too ha ha. The coins are for all to use anyway. =P

The combination of my coins and the reinforcements from The Pot of Gold and Silver resulted in quite a lot of $1 coins.

Total coins I gathered = 159 $1 coins = 159 x 1 = $159!!! Around 80% of them are from my Golden Pillow.

Look at those lovely coins stacked up in tens. =) The $1 are then packed in 20s and ready to be changed at the ma ma shop downstairs =) I put the leftover $1 coins back into my Golden Pillow and the process of saving $1 coins is repeated.

Hey! Why is there a frog there?

The cute frog container is actually ….

It is a new experiment I trying out currently in beta stage. Besides saving $1 coins, I’m trying to do the same thing for $2 notes and will use the SAKE SUSHI piggy/froggy bank to contain these notes. I only have $4 there at the moment lol, but will try harder inthe future. Maybe I will start saving $5 notes when I start work later this year lol. I love this cute looking froggy bank from Sakae Sushi which I got when I ordered food from them last year (I think).

Speaking of Sakae Sushi, I just ordered food from them this week.

I ordered a terriyaki chicken don and a chawanmushi and my sis ordered salad, soft shell crab temaki and shishamos. We didn’t have sushi but the place (my house) was a good place to eat and the food was very good too heh (refer to their slogan). We usually order bentos but once in a while we would order something else for some variety. They have quite a lot of food available for home delivery and yes, they even have pizzas heh. I have tried the teriyaki chicken pizza and it’s really good. =) Definitely more home delivery orders from Sake Sushi in the future.

Good food and extra income. A great week to make up for the unlucky Saturday I had heh. Total extra income this week = $60 + $50 + $159 = $269 …. not bad. I will try to spend the money wisely heh.

Life always has its ups and downs and now I’m even in terms of the luck department, what’s next? Lucky or unlucky?

I bought 4D for this Saturday and Sunday, will I strike again?

P.S: I have recovered from my fever and flu after days of panadols and 7 ups. =)

My new Metal Gear Solid iPhone case

In my previous iPhone post, I mentioned that I changed the case of my iPhone to the one I was aiming for. I have used it for a few weeks now and I'm really happy with it ... because it looks sooooooo chioz and its slimmer than my previous case!

The name of this case is the Power Support Metal Gear Solid Air Jacket for iPhone 3G Corrugated Meryl (Black) ... a very long name indeed. Here are the pictures of the case if you are interested ...

Case in the box

I put the case back into the box just to take this pic lol. Look at the good looking sexy girl on the case. She is the reason why I bought this case. Although it's stated on the box that is for the iPhone 3G, I'm sure it can be used for the iPhone 3GS as well, since they look exactly the same on the outside heh.

Box. Front and Back

When you take the case out, you get to see the rest of macho snake. At the back of the box, you can see the words, Metal Gear Solid Touch, which is a game which came out for the iPhone. Its only available at the US store and maybe Japan? Fortunately for me, I have a US account and managed to download the lite version to try out the game. Honestly speaking, its not really that fun lol. I'm not a Metal Gear Solid hardcore fan though ... maybe the hardcore fans will love the game. I bought this case because it looks nice. =P

The package

In the box we have the case, one crystal and one anti-glare screen protector, one sticky paper thingy to remove the dirt on the screen before applying the protector (I think), and a charger port protector which can't seem to fit. Pretty standard stuff from Power Support's Air Jackets I think.

The case. Outside and Inside.
Outside, you can see the words "Metal Gear Solid 4" along with a sexy looking girl with skimpy clothes and high heels holding a gun. =) Inside, we have the Kojima Productions logo. A nice touch, which no one else will get to see .... unless they take the case out heh.

Zoomed in specially for you.
A clearer view of the gorgeous design. I'm lovin it. =)

Case in my handThis is how it looks on my iPhone with me holding it. Not bulky at all ... even for my rather small hand.

The case is also available in white and there is an iPod Touch version as well. There are many other designs available if for some reason, you don't like sexy girls. For more designs, click here.

Not sure where you can get them in Singapore. I got mine for a discount through my friend =) If you want to get it online you can go to Power Support's website.

Cosplay: Confest VIII: A Very Happy Event (13 Videos)

Singapore's largest annual cosplay event, Cosfest VIII: A Very Happy Event, was held at Downtown East over the weekend. The festival attracted a crowd of 16,000 – 400 of whom were in costumes based on anime (Japanese cartoon) or manga (Japanese comics) characters.

Winners will represent Singapore at the annual World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan, later this month.

Source

I’m not a cosplayer, but I like looking as cosplay pictures and videos every once in a while, especially those by cute looking girls he he. Here are videos of the Cosfest VIII at Downtown East from Razor TV. Some of the characters at this cosplay event I can recognize as I have watched the animes or played the games before, others which I can’t recognise are nice to look at too. Seems like most of them put in a lot of money and effort into making the costumes. I wish I was there to take some pictures ….

Blog Update: The 5 Sections of boliaosia.com

I finally managed to stop myself from randomly surfing around, and use the time to organize my blog. I wanted to do that for a while now, but the thought of the troublesome things I have to do always result in me postponing it. Actually it’s just a little change in the html code, but I was too lazy lah. In the end, I managed to organize it in less than 30 mins lol … why didn’t I do it earlier!

After organizing my blog, which actually only involves the updating of the navigation header thingy, I decided to make a few other changes heh. Now, let me go through with you what changes I made and explain to you what the 5 sections of my blog are. =)

Firstly, this is a screenshot of boliaosia.com before the changes …

(Before Change) The navigation bar is really random and unorganized which make exploring the site difficult. I’m sian of the blog header and some icons too. So I changed ……

This is a screenshot after the changes ...

(After Change!) I have made 4 changes to my blog, all having minimal impact in terms of the look and feel of the site i.e. minor changes lol. What did I change?

Change 1: New Blog Header

Every now and then, I tend to switch the template of my blog so satisfy my need for change. However, I actually like this template a lot (plus I’m getting lazier), so this time and maybe in the future, I will only change the blog header and make some other minor changes …. unless I can pay some pro to revamp the site heh.

If you didn’t notice or you are a first time visitor, here is my old header…

I got bored of that and changed it to the current one …

Made the “Boliaosia.com” a little more 3D with some stickmen around it, and added a background to the header. I know it’s very “act cute” … sorry I can’t help it. I am a very act cute person even at this stage of my life. My maneki neko aka Zao Chai Mao aka lucky cat is still there ha ha, it welcomes you now okay.

Change 2: The 5 Sections + Others in the Navigation Bar below the header

This is the main reason why I updated my blog template. Previously, the navigation bar thingy did not reflect the 5 sections of my blog. I’m sure that because of this, readers of my blog (if any lol) would not realise that I actually have 5 distinct sections in Boliaosia.com. I created these sections when I returned to blogging in January this year after a 2 and a half years break. This is my way of making my random posts as “unrandom” as possible. The posts are still random though, it just randomly appears in either of the sections. There is no fixed schedule on when I update each section; it all depends on what I feel like blogging about lol. Although I am random, I still like to keep things a little more organized besides using the labels on the bottom right hand side of my blog.

Here are the 5 sections ….

It’s pretty obvious that all my posts has a blackboard below the header illustrating what the post is about, but if you examine it closer, you will realise that each of the blackboards has a distinct layout inside, depending on the section the post is in. For example, the “My Bo Liao Life” blackboard has a stickman and a speech bubble and the “Random Videos” blackboard has TV. Don’t ask me why the “Entertainment” and “News/Articles” blackboard looks similar. it’s just the way it is. The pics above are just templates; actual posts have additional pics and text on them. I included the “Blog Update” section in others as I do not update it as often as the rest despite my itchy tampering hands.

Let me introduce each section 1 by 1 …

1) My Bo Liao Life

This is the main section of my blog which is about my bo liao life. If there is something worth mentioning about my life besides my usual eat, shit and sleep routine, I will usually blog about it. This section used to be the only section I blog on in the past, from the year 2005 when I first started blogging to June 2006. I had a 2 and half years break from blogging from July 2006 to December 2008, so that part of my life is not archived. Good and bad things happened during that period but I’m too lazy and my memory too lousy, to blog about the events that happened during that period. When I started blogging again and switched over to boliaosia.com, I categorized all my old posts into this “My Bo Liao Life” section. I added 4 other sections during these 6 months (from Jan 2009 when I blogged again) for me to blog about something if my life is too boring ...

Example of post pic with images inside …

2) Random Videos

If there are any interesting and funny videos I want to share, I will post them under this section of my blog. Quite a lot of Nobody videos at the moment but I promise the one I just posted is my last! I recently posted some Japanese prank videos too and will definitely continue posting random Japanese videos. There are so many crazy Japanese videos out there! I will try to post at least 3 related videos in every "Random Videos" post.

Example of post pic with images inside …

3) Entertainment

This section is about the tv shows, music and games etc. which I like and want to blog about. I have blogged about American, Japanese, Taiwanese and local (Singapore) tv shows and Japanese Animes. Have not blogged about games as I don’t really play them nowadays but may do so in the future. If there are other stuff that entertained me other than my iPhone, I might blog about it under this section or maybe my bo liao life section.

Example of post pic with images inside …

4) News/Articles

In this section, I share articles I find interesting and usually add in my 2 cents worth. Recently, because of the Straits Times app on my iPhone and twitter, I can easily share interesting articles and add in some random comment. I think that made me a little less motivated to post in this section ha ha. I will try to post every once in a while if the article means a lot to me, and I can crap about it all the day long. To see which articles I twittered and crapped about, go to my twitter page: www.twitter.com/boliaosia. Follow me and I will follow back =) Maybe I should get my father to comment on some articles, he has lots to say!

Example of post pic with images inside …

5) My iPhone

This is the newest section of my blog. My iPhone 3G is such a big part of my life and I figured that the best way to show my love for this wonderful device is to blog about it! It’s the only thing besides the chain I am wearing that stays with me wherever I go. Even when I’m bathing in the toilet, I use it to listen to music heh. I don’t think I can live without it. Looking forward to replacing it with the iPhone 3GS in October though he he. I have blogged about how much I love my iPhone, my experience with OS 3.0, and 10 free apps to start your iPhone app collection. My next post will be about the lovely new case I bought and future posts will mostly be about the apps/applications I use and want to share. Will I continue supporting the next generations of iPhone one after another forever? I don’t know lol.

Example of post pic with images inside …

Change 3: Changed RSS feed and Twitter icon

I changed the icons to blend in with the overall blog design.

Change 4: Please Vote!

Okay, this is not an update but a reminder for you to vote ha ha! For those who have been voting for me, thanks a lot!! For those who have not, find out how and why you should vote here: Miracle I’m in the Singapore Blog Awards Final. Vote for good luck! That’s my voting campaign slogan lol. You can vote once a day, every day, till 31 July 2009! Oh ya there are prizes to be won for voters too! =)

To see my interview over at Omy’s site which includes lot of crap, click here.

There is a mistake in one of the interview answers they posted. The answer for the 3rd question should be: "Shocked! For more go to (a link on my blog). Chances of winning? 10% (too much?)"

I think they don’t allow me to shamelessly influence people to click on the link to go to my blog lol.

Okay that’s all for my Blog Update today. Hope you know more about the 5 sections now. I have just created a Facebook fan page for boliaosia.com for fun. It is not complete yet (trying to figure out how to use it!) and has one fan at the moment (me!). If you want to be a fan, go to the boliasia.com Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Boliaosiacom-My-Very-Random-Posts/104971412356 !! If you have a fan page too, I will become your fan! ... just leave me a comment after adding. =)

Will add the Facebook link icon beside the RSS feed and Twitter icon soon after this post.

Explore the 5 sections now!!

Add my RSS feeds and Twitter okay. Support support a bit. =)

P.S:
Will force some of my friends to join the fan page so that I will have at least 10 fans and not be so pai sei. =)

P.S 2: I made some minor changes before this but didn’t blog about it as I was lazy.
