My New LG LED Monitor W2486L

Hellooooo blog. I have been so busy the past few weeks I have not been able to update you, so sorry about that. I even missed your 1 year anniversary last week he he. Ha ha, boliaosia.com is 1 years old! I have renewed the domain name for another year, so I guess I will still be blogging for a long long time heh. Updates will be less often or shorter than before I guess, since I will be busy at work and maybe play most of the time. You know I only blog when I am bo liao, have nothing better to do or want to share some good stuff he he. No work related stuff on this blog though. (In case employers are reading my blog …. Hi!)

Anyways … Speaking of sharing good stuff, there is something I have been using the past 1 month plus which I really like and want to share with anyone reading my blog. My new 24 inch LG W2486L monitor!!

I actually received this amazing monitor from LG as a trial last month and have since been using it every day without fail. I guess it’s hard for someone to avoid using a monitor if he surfs the net every day =P. I’m actually looking at it while I am typing this sentence i.e. I’m using it now la. It is certainly better than my previous monitor (also 24 inch) and I love it a lot!

That was my pc setup before the arrival of the LG W2486L ….


I was really excited when the monitor arrived at my house and immediately went to take some pictures of the box and most importantly what’s inside the box =)


In case you are interested in the packaging of the monitor, I took pics of it from different angles. There is a post it note which has my name on it at the side of the box he he. In the box, you have the monitor (duh), the monitor stand, vga cable, dvi cable, power cable, installation cd, manuals and stuff. Too bad there is no HDMI cable included.


So … let’s get on to the star of this post …. THE 24 INCH LG W2486L! It really looks very nice … easily the best looking monitor I ever had.


After screwing the base in and placing it upright, you can see how beautiful this baby looks. The back of the monitor and its front border are glossy black, the stand is red and it has red lights on its buttons (okay not really buttons but sort of like touch screen buttons). The power button is shaped like an eagle eye with a matching red light. Very elegantly designed indeed. There are 2 HDMI connectors, 1 DVI connector, 1 VGA connector and an audio out jack. I use both of the HDMI slots. 1 for my PC, the other for my ps3 =) You can also plug in your HD Setup box from Starhub or Mio and make it a TV he he. It’s like a Full HD TV! There are no inbuilt speakers though, so you have to plug your own speakers into the monitor’s audio out jack. If you have digital speakers than no problem …. Just connect them straight to your HD setup boxes, Xbox 360s or PS3 =)

Because it’s a LED monitor it is able to have a super high contrast ratio of 2 mil to 1!! The LED technology also enables the monitor to consume less power and be slimmer and lighter than your usual LCD monitors …


The monitor can be tilted forwards and backwards and is only 20mm thick … thinner than my $1 coin! As seen in the pictures above, it is also thinner than my previous 24inc and 17 inch monitors. Because it is using LED technology, according to the information they provided, the monitor uses around 50% less power than its previous model and it’s Eco-Friendly. I can’t confirm those claims though, because I dunno how to test them lol. We just have to read and believe lor. It does feel good knowing that you might be saving electricity though heh.

I used the new LG monitor as my main PC monitor and the older Acer 24 inch monitor as my TV. The 17 inch is just lying around somewhere in my house at the moment. If I add another monitor, I can do this …

However, I found it a little too overcrowded for my small table though so I rearrange the monitors again to this …


Now the table has only 1 monitor and it looks much neater. This will be my computer and gaming area. So where is the other monitor?

So now I have 2 entertainment areas in my super small room =) Don’t worry, Kimi still have her own area to sleep.

Now that the room is arranged, I can finally use my new monitor!


As a PC, because of its really wide screen, I can actually easily multitask, arranging the programs neatly on the screen. Good for people who likes to watch DVDs and chat at the same time while surfing the net or for work and projects … just mix and match =P

I tried using the Starhub HD Setup box on the monitor and everything looked good, just like a Full HD Lcd TV. Gaming and videos on PS3 looks great too. I completed Uncharted 2 using this monitor and now I am playing Bayonetta and have no problems so far.

I really like this monitor and I definitely want to keep it if possible. As I have mentioned before, I received this monitor as a part of a trial and when I received it, it was not out in Singapore yet. I’m not sure if it’s out now, but do check it out if you want to upgrade your current monitor. It’s worth it. =)

I love playing games and played lots of Maple Story in the past, so I decided to go to the fair to take a look. Knowing that the event was going to have cosplayers gave me extra motivation to go there heh. So on Saturday, I forced my group mates who were going to do our group project in my house to stopover there before heading to my house. I was excited, I wanted to take many photos of cosplayers and post it here, but at the end of the day, I can only post one photo lol. Notice that the title of this post is "Licence 2 Play Cosplay Pic and Videos" and not Cosplay Pics ha ha. If you were expecting to see lots of pictures here, pai sei .... tricked ya!

Anyway here is the only clear picture I have out of the 5 pictures I took lol ... but there is a boy blocking the girl .... I must be the lousiest photographer ever!

Reason (ahem excuse) for only having one picture:
When we reached the License 2 Play fair, it seems like most of the cosplayers were having a break. Though there were still quite a few of them around I felt a little pai sei to take their pictures as the other guys taking seemed so pro with their big ass DSLR cameras. I only had a normal digital camera which I borrowed from Shawn and was a little reluctant while being surrounded by professional looking photographers lol. You know it's something like going to a gun fight with a sword or driving a shitty car in a car race against super cars. It's not like I'm Takumi from Initial D.

The cosplayers probably prefer to pose for those carrying the pro looking cameras anyway as they will look better in the photos (you spend so much on your camera, sure at least have some standard right he he) and maybe some of the photographers are from the media heh. So at the end, I only took 5 pictures, all of them taken without the presence of pro photographers. It was at an Asiasoft event where most of the people around were kids.

Marley and Me - Had to keep use my fingers to wipe off my tears during the show. Really sad show especially if you had a dog who just passed away.

Games

Guitar Heroes World Tour - Shawn brought the whole set (guitar, drum, mic) to my house to play! Can you believe that its my first time playing guitar heroes?!!? Really enjoyed playing it, considering weather to get my own set. Wayne is going to post unglam photos of our guitar heroes experience on facebook ... damn.

Street Fighter 4 - Bought it last week. Didn't get to play it much. Love the gameplay and graphics. The intro is very nice! Very Stylo sia. The song is corny but cool.

My 15 min Dragonica Experience

Lol at the end I manged to play Dragonica for only 15 mins before the closed beta preview ended. Waited so long for the torrent to finish downloading. From my 15 min experience, I think it will be a good game and will defnitely try it out when the open beta is live. I like the cute graphics and the controls are good, easy to pick up, similar to maple story but in 3D. I prefer this type of game where you control the character's movement with the arrow keys and jump around like those hack and slash games rather than those which you click to move your character around.

As I only played for 15 min I only got myself to lvl 3 so only got 3 skills. As usual I played as a warrior. Managed to take a few pics for fun to post here.

So thats how I spent 15 mins of my time on Valentines day, what an interesting life I have huh. 1 hour more till the end of Valentines day ... yahooooooo!

By the way the instant satay from NTUC is very nice, taste as good or maybe even better than other satays I have tried. I bought the chicken one, the meat is very tender and the satay sauce is not spicy at all, just nice for me! If you like satays maybe you can buy a pack to try for yourself. I used the oven to cook the satays and the microwave for the satay sauce. Yummy!

Okay continue from Friday's post .... survey was fun, get to interview all sorts of people ..... the first person whom I surveyed was an old women, at first I was happy as I wasn't rejected but then she kept talking about alot of things and I ended up talking to her for around 20 mins I think or maybe even longer lol ... then got interview office lady chio bu who was frenly and sweet hehe then next is some man who talked super alot of stuff not related to my survey, I only ask him one simple question and he ended talking about revolutionising the bakery industry in Singapore :P ... at the end he only answered 3 questions and went off as his mother just arrived lol .... after the old woman and the guy who took alot of my time

I was afraid I couldn't complete my survey in time, but luckily I went to interview one secondary school girl who was also a surveyor and was pleasently surprised :) suddenly 5 of her frens came and I was able to give a mass surveying session, surveying 6 people at a time hehe lucky sial .... if not for them, I would not have completed my survey ... thank you sec school girls, you are so helpful although one of you a little bad, say that I seem short for a 23 yr old guy when they asked for my age :( .... but whatever la, used to it liao, can't change my height unless maybe I go China for leg extension lol ... anyway I was happy that I was able to complete the survey in time ... we all had a free cup of orange juice eachfor our efforts but I heard other groups could take as many breadtalk buns as they want.... so unfair!!

Now to Friday.... the test which was quite okay I think, I wrote alot about toilets which I think is my specialty since I go there often hehe ... after the test I helped Joyce deliver something to her friend Jacqueline ..... the star idol Jacqueline who was the cover girl of the recent maxim which my sis bought!!! Oh my god haha...Joyce had to rush to work so I volunteered to help her after being inspired by one of the Hardo Gay Videos I watched recently... since I was free and had nothing to do for a few hours might as well help her hehe ... after helping a little regret as the weather was hot and I sweated alot.... I hate sweating!!! Friday evening went to museum for excursion(like so sec school lol) ..... played some game which required us to answer questions about artifacts in the museum, I think I was one of the few enthu people and really wanted to win lol ...there was one room we had to go to for answers but they were having a wedding function there but being the ever so kiasu Jiahui, I asked some boy to come out and help me to answer but he too shy lol .... they all like very high class wear until so nice, then I was wearing some normal clothing and I felt like I was some low class guy talking to some high society people, got one old man stare at me somemore sial like I some poor kid asking for money lol(like some tv drama)... dunno when will know the results, hope my group will win ...

Yesterday I did some project work(have to hand in 3 individual journal on wed!!!) in the afternoon, helped mother make some posters for her mini cake stall and at night went to MOS with sis, abit last min decision, she suddenly ask me to go and and coincidentally got free entry via sms hehe... went there a little late and was surprised to see that there was no queue and we even got the free drinks that was meant for the first 300 people!! So free entry and drinks!!! Woooohuuuuu ....ordered a few more drinks and we got abit drunk lol, luckily got free transport home hehe, sis bf come and fetch us ... so that was officially the chepest clubbing session in my life, spent $15 altogether lol ...$15 includes cab fare there and 2 extra drinks weeeeee ... I have to admit something :P I smoked when I was there, it was the first time I smoked in more than a month maybe 2 months but I think its okay la since alot of people there smoke, then I'd rather be the one smoking then be a second hand smoker hehe and can keep me sober also, but I swear that I will only be a poser smoker and smoke only when I club (which doen't happen often nowadays).... to show my determination, I passed the remaining sticks to my sis bf already hehe.... really I won't start smoking regularly again promise :)

Notice that I never mention anything about maple hehe thats because I didn't have the time to play :( ... maybe after tests next next week then I can play regularly again, now a little busy with projects..... anyways I've got to end this super long post now, need to do some project work again :( ... Erm actually my life nowadays quite repetitive, everyday, school then project till late then maple and the cycle continues the next day. Its been a super long time since I last blogged lol, some of you who are not in my school might hav thought that I was dead right?? Sorry to dissapoint you haha ....joking :P Since my last post, ermm nothing interesting happened I guess. This post is specially dedicated to mystery person wilstar who upped my fame in maple 3 times yesterday and 1 time today. So happy to see you in maple right after you know my nick now is JiroNeesan(inspired by the show engine :P) .... came to my hunting ground specially to fame me worz haha. So touched until I wanna cry. Hmm seems like one of your characters name is called debbie... but I dunno any debbie in my sec school le....

I have recovered from my terrible sickness right before school started. Its been more than a month since I last smoked, should be considered quit liao yay!!! No urge to smoke anymore hehe, but the urge for smoking change to urge for eating lol...sian ah!!! Eating too much man. Started mapling again :D ... change char now using a page now, currently lvl 49 hopefully 50 by tom. New sem has started, now in new class, means new group mates heh... so far so good... all hardworking people.... must get As or Zs!!!

Ermm... oh ya received my progress package liao, used quite alot of it :D. Bought a new phone W550i, then went out with bee last sat to buy bag, watch movie and eat nice jap food ... thurs treat mother eat sakura buffet for mothers day(scared sun very ex :P) yesterday went to temple with dad to pray and after that went to foot massage haha, my first time... quite painful but still can ren, the massager was impressed by my endurance :) .... after that went to cut hair alone at Bugis then pierce my ear again at tampines lol... feeling bored so just do it :P ... okay time to end my post for today, must train hard cause weekdays alot of projets cannot play much. Maybe will post some pics of my cute new char soon hehe

Went out for 2 days in a row!!! :p yesterday went to my cousin's house to fix her internet and got a surprise pay of $50! He he didn't expect to get money but she insisted I take and slipped it into my pocket so I had to accept :p ... she said if she call the singnet people also must pay them, so might as well pay me :D My father also paid my for my hard work of helping him file his documents by helping me pay my phone bill hee, going to change new phone soon, can't wait!!.... Went out with sister today to orchard to buy some jap food stuff. She is making them for someone special(but not me haha) and i think I might be helping her out tom haha, yay got Jap food to eat liao tom... went to play pool also and fared better this time :) ... tom will be slacking at home again for the whole day I guess.. maybe will post pics of the jap food. Oh ya, I started mapling again lol .... level 50 here I come!!! Will definitely reach lvl 50 by this week and change into new clothes :D ... And I finally bought new contact lens after using the current monthly disposible one for more than 3 months!!! Eyes always so pain.... Dun wanna waste money so no choice lor ... Okay time to go bathe and maple!!

Yesterday went to watch movie and cycle at east coast with emily the bee(new nick..dun pinch me hor) =D ... was late cause I didn't expect to take so long making the chawanmushi ... sorrie ah. Watched big momma's house 2 which was quite funny but i still prefer the pink panther hehe, but big momma also not bad la, around 3 and a half popcorn(out of 5). After movie took 31 to east coast and spent the longest time I had under the sun since my bmt days in the army. Cause we dropped quite far away from east coast park, we had to walk super far under the super duper hot sun to the bicycle shop.

Thank you bee for giving me the strength to walk so long under the sun, I wouldn't have made it without you :) .... felt really proud after completing the hot sun walk and was rewarded with a cool bicycle ride... by the time we started cycling, the weather was not so hot and the sea breeze was shiok :) thats why I like cycling in the beach. After cycling, we ate dinner at a coffee shop(i think) and i get to experience something very familiar.... bee was carefully taking out the tau gays(like so gay) and some other stuff in her laksa and carefully placing the noodles on the spoon to enjoy her meal, I think that is so me! lol ... her hand also shivers when she holds the spoon... same same hehe... she calls it the maple syndrome lol ..

After that i went to play pool with Alvin and got thrashed at 8 ball but won 9 ball :) but i lost the keep the ball cum tortoise match heh. Must enjoy myself before the start of 2 hellish weeks. Tuesday I will start my work and the first thing I have to do is set up the place, which I hate doing but no choice money rules lol. Must think of what I can do with the money and endure..

Had fun today (sat) ... subway was fun although I still have problems ordering food (too many things to add!! so many questions), pink panther was very funny, national library was cool, yoshinoya was filling heh, pool was okay and newcastle win again .. hehe .... today I never even touch maple ... haha ... tom should be mapling all the way I guess :p

What a nice b-day...... hope the sufferings I have on my b-day will lead to better things in the future haha

Been playing so much Maple story recently hehe ... So I was unable to update my blog... But since my life now is maple all the way, there nothing much to write about anyway haha. Maybe it can go like this - Monday to Sunday - Eat, Shit, Sleep, Maple....... Okay la its not that bad.. I do go out once in awhile, like watching The Myth(Jacky!) with Father, watching Goal(Newcastle!!!) with Alvin and watching The 40 year old virgin(nice nice) with my sis. Went out with Caleb too and also send Miss Tan to Australia(ERM not send her to Australia, err how to say.. Watch her go at the airport?) for her studies at 7am!! LOL

Oh ya I also bought a new fish called Rock Lee, pronounced as Rocko Lee, you can also call it broccoli hehe. Too lazy to upload pics of it here though hehe ... I do have pics to upload, and they are from ............................. ta da MAPLE STORY!!!! Who needs consoles with free online PC gaming haha, I sold my PS2 which I haven been touching because of this game :P

Hi guys! I'm not dead yet although I have thoughts about it ha ha. Staying alone in my lonely house for a few days has caused me to suffer from depression. Lucky Alvin saved me by asking me to play pool or not I will get worse I think... almost want to stay at home for the rest of my life. Even thought about writing some letter to my love ones to tell them about how I feel before I die... but I think no guts to kill myself lol... such a loser. Omg I sound like a depressed girl ...oh man, always feel like that when I'm having my school holidays and have nothing to do...tend to think too much...sian. I think there was once I actually stayed at home, not going out for a few months! Suddenly became afraid of the outside world, trying to escape reality by staying in my room the whole day everyday. Maybe thats why I don't like the sun now. Lucky there was NS and i was forced to go out or not I dunno what I would be now. I hate long holidays!!!

Anyway, I think I'm alright now... just have to keep myself occupied with some outings ... ermmm but not activities under the hot sun haha ...I hate the Sun!! Not things that require me to spend too much money also heh ... poor man here. Cycling at east coast in the evening would be fun, like wat I did on Sunday with Miss Dolphin Tan, Mingxiu and another guy whose name I forgot liao haha oops(only met him once cannot balme hor). Had a great time at the beach on Sunday....wasn't feeling sad this time at the beach, so I got to enjoy myself :D This might be my last outing with Miss Dolphin Tan though... soooo sad. I think she should be in Japan now and going to Australia after she comes back.

On Tuesday for squash, got some outsiders(aunties, 1 one chio bu and 1 uncle) came to TP to challenge us. I played with one of the aunties and lost... haha.. she super pro lor although I think I have some excuses for not posing a greater challenge haha..... I just ran 1.6km with one of my fellow squash member as we had nothing to do because others are playing, then right after we came back, I had to play with the auntie!!! Super tired lor, my hand numb liao hehe although I know she will still win me even I'm in my best condition, but at least I could have done better :( .... but okay la, I enojoyed myself during the match hehe when I get points that time I super happy hee.

After tuesday..was maple all the way till I get my depression lol.... but anyway I really feel okay now after writing(or typing?) this post, at least get to recall, the fun things I have been doing recently. Oh ya, last but not least, here are some pics of my time at World Marketing Group, the place I worked at as a telemarketer for 2 weeks. Enjoyed my time there... highlight of the job was the day I OT till 4am!!! Haha, they had to rush some things and we called our friends to help us finish. 6 of them came and we completed the work at 4!! Dun worry, they are all paid hehe. The pay department very goooood, I think its the first time I get my pay so fast. I got it on my last day of work, even before I finished work!!!
