Last Day of School

On Monday, I had my last exams of my life, which officially marked the end of my days as a student (should be able to pass the exams heh). It was a bittersweet moment for me. I was happy that I would not have to take any exams again, and go through the process of squeezing tons of information into this puny head of mine. However, I’m sure I will miss lots of stuff in school. The thing that I will miss most in school will definitely be rushing group projects together with my group mates. As a marketing student, my poly and Uni days are filled with project deadlines every semester. I don’t remember any subject without a project to complete! Woo hoo! I love doing projects and I hope projects in real life will be as fun, something which I highly doubt heh. I don’t mind working late hours completing project though, erm actually I think it’s kind of fun.

*Sean is a self-confessed project addict. ^_^

Besides projects and the things I mentioned on my “no more exams!!” post, these are some other things I would miss in school.

Still in the graduating mood while waiting for the actual graduating ceremony in September, I made this poem with real songs found in the Nokia Music Store (Singapore) for my Nuffnang-Nokia blogging contest. They really have a massive collection of songs there that I can choose from, which made the composing of my awesome poem much easier.

Going out with my friends later today for my second round of post exams celebration! Kbox buffet (buffet again?!!) and St James here I come!! May take some pictures and post them together with the ones I took on Monday at Hanabi and Mindcafe. This should be the final waistline damaging activity I will be engaging before I start my jogging routine (I realize I keep saying this lol).

Those lucky Nokia Comes with Music handset owners get a whole year of free unlimited music downloads that they can keep forever!! I envy them.

Interesting Places in Singapore I wish had Internet Connection

These days, I find myself so used to being connected to the online virtual world that I think I feel lost without it. Surfing my favourite websites, blogging, searching for information on Google, Facebook, MSN, Twitter, playing my mmorpgs etc etc … these are things I can’t live without at the moment. Wherever I am in the real world, I want to stay connected. The virtual world and the community that I’m in, to me are as real as the one I have in the real world.

My beloved iPhone with 3g connection is always with me wherever I am, so that I could always be connected. I surf the internet in class, chat with my friends on MSN and tweet at the food court, check my facebook, emails and the latest news on my Straitstimes App in the bus, and many other stuff. These actions come so naturally to me right now that I wonder if could survive being out of my house without an internet connection on my iPhone.

So I decided to experiment. What if I don’t rely on the 3g connection and try to make use of the wifi connection around Singapore instead. Is it sufficient for me to satisfy my online needs? Together with my friend Alvin, who brought his laptop along to join in the experiment we went around Singapore last Saturday to find interesting places we wish we had internet connection. We tried to think of scenarios where we needed to use the internet at those places. Shawn and Wayne joined in the fun later that day too, and we ended our journey with some drinks at Harry’s @ Dempsey Hill. Too bad they had internet connection there or else it could be one of the interesting places.

These are the 5 places we wished internet connection was available …

1) Mount Faber
*Pant pant*… Phew… It’s such a long walk to catch a beautiful glimpse of Mount Faber. Here at Mount Faber with our backpacks on and catching a breather. Surrounding us are nature’s gift to mankind.. Insects!! I have never seen so many different breeds of insects in my life before! Nevertheless, I took out my iphone and started to scan for any wireless connection hoping to secure a signal. Well.. deep in the vegetation, I’m not surprised to see none… I wish I had internet connection here!!! I want to tweet about the giant insect bite I just got!

2) East Coast Park
Recalling a scene from the pirates of the Caribbean, we decided to head down to East Coast Park hoping to pick up a glass bottle with a note bearing 4 digits for me to try my luck this weekend… I was also thinking whether there is any wireless connection at the beach. Unfortunately, there was none. How nice would it be, if I can enjoy the sun and listening to the breeze of the beach while surfing the internet… Ouch .. Did I step on some seashell … I might be too engrossed looking at the rollerblading babes walking around…

3) Bedok Jetty
Fishing needs both patience and skills; these are traits which I certainly lack. However I do still enjoy fishing with my friends over at Bedok Jetty every once in awhile and if I have an internet connection there, I could play my favourite online games, while waiting for that big catch. I can also search for information on fishing tips to improve my skills. The only thing I managed to catch so far in my fishing adventures is a plastic bag!

4) Random Forest
Taking a natural walk is refreshing especially when you’re living in a fast pace city like Singapore. So here we go embarking on something we have not done since our army days. Wait a minute, the sky is turning dark and the rain seems to be coming to pay us a visit, definitely at the wrong time. Having walked halfway through the forest without any umbrella, I wonder what we should do to weather the storm. If only I could Wiki a forest survival guide right now!! But of course, we made our way out by doubling our steps.

5) Newton CircusAhhh … Newton Circus, the famous hawker centre in Singapore, which tourists all over the world love to patronize. Which of these stalls are highly recommended by the people over at the local food blogs and forums? Which is the stall with the $30 tiger prawn? Stall 42 or 43? I really need an internet connection now to find out which of these stalls are notorious for overcharging. I don’t want to be a “carrot head”. I need to make sure I have enough money to take a cab home!

Results of my experiment: The wifi spots in Singapore are insufficient to satisfy my needs. Life is not the same without being always connected. I’m glad I have my mobile broadband connection. =)

My Nike Mini Contest Prize

2 weeks ago I mentioned that 3 lucky things happened. If you have missed it, here is the post: Lucky 1, 2, 3. Anyways in the post I mentioned that I knew that whenever I was too happy something bad will happen, and my karma theory is proven right yet again!! =( Since that post, my beloved Newcastle United lost 2 matches in a row and got relegated to the Coca Cola Championship. The stock I sold, went up like crazy after I sold it due to a takeover by another company, I could have sold it for 1k plus dollars more if I waited for 1 more week sian. Oh well, at least one of the lucky things that happened is not reversible, my Nike Mini Contest win. =)

I received my prize last week ... Although I can't use them as they are all Nike Women's products, I was glad that I won it. Here are the $300 worth of products I received courtesy of Nike and Nuffnang!
The Nike plastic bag with the prizes in it

The Nike Air Swift Sister in the box

Front view of the shoe (not bad looking I think) Got pink here and there, girls sure like

The hoodie and ermm track pants (don't know what it is)?

The nice red short sleeved jacket hoodie thingy

The dunno what is it called long pants thingy. Its stretchable. I think its a Nike Women's capris.

Those are the 3 products I got as my prize for the contest. Since I can't use them, I will be giving them to my kind future jogging mates. We were supposed to start jogging this week, but we changed it to next week as they are not free, hope they don't pang seh me. Actually, I have already passed the shoes to one of my jogging mates, Jasmine!! Maybe she take already then don't jog with me ha ha. Like I mentioned in the image I used for the Nike Mini contest, I really need to jog and lose lots of weight before the graduation ceremony! I'm too lazy to jog alone, so I hope my jogging mates will give me motivation to jog on a regular basis. I already bought my jogging shoes, hope it does not collect dust.

Cheers to a healthier me!!

Lucky 1, 2 and 3 Newcastle, Stock, Nike Mini Contest

The past 2 days have been kind to me. 3 lucky things happened during the 2 days and I'm feeling rather happy now. I guess this kinda makes up for the mediocre past few months I have been going through.

Lucky Number 1:

Newcastle finally won a match and score some goals!
Yesterday I had this post about preparing for the biggest match of my life. I think my jersey and red underwear wearing, getting my dog kimi to wear her jersey and forcing my friend Alvin to wear a Newcastle United Jersey has played a small part in Newcastle United winning their first match in like 10 games? He he. The players really played very well yesterday, never giving up even when they were 1 goal down so early in match. Newcastle United showed great fighting spirit and eventually won 3-1 (I predicted 3-0 =D)! Kudos to all the players involved, the fans at St James' Park for their superb support (the flags waived around the whole stadium is spectacular!) and of course the one and only Alan Shearer and his management team. Its been a long time since I've seen Shearer so happy. The cheers for him during and after the match made my hair stand.

The 3 nufc scorers of the night: Steven Taylor, Obafemi Martins and Peter Lovenkrands!

Newcastle United is finally out of the bottom 3! With 2 games left, their fate is finally on their own hands. I hope they can repeat the performance and win again this Saturday at home against Fulham!

Lucky Number 2:

Finally managed to sell off my stock.

I shall not say what stock it is, but those who are familiar with this chart would know heh. I bought this particular stock on October thinking that it was cheap then, and right after I bought it, it fell like no tomorrow (together with many other counters lol). Luckily for me, it recently went back up to slightly less than the price I bought it for and being the hum ji (cowardly) guy, and constant persuasion of my father (he keep asking me to sell for the past few weeks and it kept going up he he), I decided to sell it off. The dividends earned during the period I had the stock can cover the transaction fees. Will invest wisely in the future and not have the gambling mentality when I start working after graduation. The way I played last time was something like once my friend Caleb said in the past about some "investors" ... playing Da Xiao lol.

Lucky Number 3:

I received a sms today informing me that I won the Nike Mini contest I participated on February!

This was my entry to the competition. To view the post click here.

I joined Nuffnang a few months ago and have yet to receive my first cheque. However, joining Nuffnang and being a Glitterati member, gave me opportunities to participate in their contests too. This is first and only competition I have joined so far and I'm so happy that I have won it. The prize is $300 worth of Nike products! I will treat it as actually earning some money (he he) and will use it as a motivation to join future competitions and work towards getting that first cheque =). I will be patient and will continue blogging no matter what happens. Thank you Nuffnang and Nike! For those who have not visited Nike Women's website, go check it out (nikewomen.com.sg)! Its very cool!

(Okay I will try not to be too happy now cause I know that whenever I'm too happy something bad will happen. I guess its karma, you win some you lose some.)

P.S: Unfortunately I missed last week's episode of Fighting Spiders (anyone knows what happened?). This week's episode is funny lah. Soon Lee and Charlie are both chee ko peks, starring at Sam's neh neh. Peter is in love with Sam (who i think looks pretty even in tomboy wear) and shows his brave ang moh confidence and Soon Lee is as hum ji as me! Next week we get to see Tony's second love interest Susie Woon!

Nike Contest - My Nike Mini

Everyone who knows me know that I'm a cheapskate who loves good deals and freebies, so its no surprise that I love joining competitions especially those that are interesting. I recently joined Nuffnang and found this Nike contest celebrating Nike Women's new launch ... cool. Seems like this competition is not limited to girls so I guess I will have a crack at it. If the prize turns out to be something for girls, I will give it to my sister who will definitely love it! Jia Yi, if you are reading this, this is for you! (If the prize is Nike Women's products he he)

The competition requires me to take a screenshot of the Nike Mini I created and allows me to add decorate the background. I love using Photoshop for my school project visuals and this competition gives me a chance to showcase my amateurish self taught skills lol. In case you are wondering what a Nike Mini is, its a super cute character that you can create on Nike Women's website. Link below :)

Okay, now that I have announced my intentions for this post, this is my enhanced Nike Mini Screenshot made with the magic of Photoshop.

Blogger seems to have some problems with displaying pictures uploaded through them recently, so I have uploaded it to Photobucket just in case. Here is the link . (I might upload all pics to Photobucket from now on)

I like girls who like pink things so I made my Nike Mini very "pinky" lol. Nice pink hair with pink shoes and a jacket with a touch of pink. Her name is Jiahui which is also my name (lucky my name can be guy or girl's name). Since I am currently trying to lose weight at the moment in time for my graduation, the exercise program I created is called "Project Graduation Exercise." I think I may have to follow the exercise program I created for this competition soon as my weight has not gone down this week after my special diet plan lol. Okay I admit I cheated a little and ate dinner on some days I'm not supposed to and only use the Mindwave program once. =P. I am so going to add exercising to my plan starting from next week. I need to motivate myself to get my fat ass moving, I think I need an exercise buddy!! To girls staying in Tampines please email me to apply for the position of my exercising buddy. (Not hopeful anyne will apply heh)

Okay enough of my self hating, here are some things you can do at the Nike Women website.
